The charge controllers with MPPT technology are used for solar systems not connected to the national grid but for grid systems or stand-alone.
MPPT is an acronym for: Maximum Power Point Tracking.
These charge controllers are able to manage and exploit the point of maximum power generated by the photovoltaic modules based on the solar radiation.
The main advantages of MPPT are:
- Most current available to charge the battery; MPPT charge controllers are able to use all the power (Watts) generated by the solar module to charge the battery
- Wide voltage range in input. This feature of the MPPT controller is very useful, for example, to give the possibility to charge a 12V battery using a solar module designed to work at 24V, without any power loss.
